The GEHS Music Program serves students across Eastern Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Located at Greenbrier East High School, our department provides performance ensembles, classroom music education, and community outreach that nurture musicianship, leadership, and lifelong appreciation for music.
The GEHS Music Department is a comprehensive program offering instrumental and vocal music experiences for middle and high school students. We provide sequential coursework in music theory and performance, and several ensembles that rehearse and perform throughout the year.
Students learn technique, ensemble skills, music literacy, and creative musicianship. We emphasize inclusive participation while maintaining high musical standards through sectional rehearsals, clinics, and performance opportunities.
Each ensemble participates in concerts, festivals, and community outreach throughout the school year.
Students in the department can take part in solo & ensemble festivals, all-county auditions, regional honor ensembles, and leadership positions (section leaders, drum majors, student conductors). We also offer opportunities in music technology, arranging, and small-ensemble coaching.
GEHS ensembles regularly perform for community events, retirement centers, and school ceremonies. We partner with local organizations to provide educational concerts and outreach that connect students with the broader Greenbrier County community.
