Concert Band — Lowerclassmen
The Lowerclassmen Concert Band at Greenbrier East performs some advanced wind literature repertoire and prepares students for festivals, solo & ensemble, and regional honors ensembles. Membership is open to qualified for freshman, unless you're a leader in the upperclassmen band, and want to help out.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held during 4th period and sometimes additional sectionals are scheduled before major concerts. Students are expected to be attentive, arrive prepared with music, and participate in sectionals as assigned.
- Wind technique and tone development
- Advanced ensemble literature
- Sight-reading and score study
Typical Season
The season includes practicing for the marching band show for the fall, a winter concert, adjudicated festivals, and spring performances. Students may also participate in solo & ensemble and county/regional Honor Bands.
Instrumentation
The ensemble typically includes flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, horns, trombones, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. Instrumentation may vary by repertoire.
How to Join
Membership is open to everyone in 9th grade. Interested students or leaders should contact the music department for more information.
